Why Most Diets Fail
Fat / Weight Loss programs usually use one of these three methods:
- Low Fat Diets
- Low Calorie Diets
- Low Carb Diets
The sad truth is that most diets fail.
None of these methods will help you get a trim waistline!
Chances are, if you have tried dieting, then you have failed at dieting.
As you already know, this is an all too frustrating problem. There is, however, some good news. The failure could very well be the fault of your diet, NOT YOU. So, the real question to ask is, "Why are other diets terrible for Fat / Weight Loss?"
The answer to our question lies in a very simple and unavoidable fact: Your body responds to a given stimulus in a very predictable manner. In other words, when you do something that affects your body, it always responds to what you do in the same way. So, what does this have to do with dieting?
One of the more common mistakes in most diet plans is to drastically cut your daily intake of calories. The reasoning behind this approach is simple to understand: If you reduce the number of calories that you consume, then you also reduce the amount of fat available for your body to store. Unfortunately, this can have unintended consequences. And while you will lose weight initially, your progress will soon grind to a halt.
As mentioned, your body is responsive, and it is geared towards insuring your continued survival. When you drastically cut calories, you are essentially cutting the amount of usable energy the body has. Your body will then react accordingly.
Your body doesn't care that you're choosing not to eat for Fat / Weight Loss purposes, it only knows that you are suddenly being deprived of calories and perhaps facing prolonged starvation. So your body responds:
- It slows down your metabolism, so that you burn fewer calories.
- Then it starts to convert muscle into fat, to create a reservoir of energy so that it can survive what it thinks might be a prolonged period of starvation.
For effective, long-lasting fat / weight loss goals, this is bad news:
- You want your metabolism to be as high as possible, because that will cause more calories to be burned.
- You want your body to favor muscle over fat, because muscles need to burn lots of calories to keep in condition.
So cutting calories is not the answer. Most diets are doomed to fail from the start. If you really want a trim waistline, you need to follow a sensible guide that really understands how the body works, and why most diets fail.
